We’ve just painted our wall in our dining area, is a very vast wall so need some bits adding to it. I’m absolutely useless at this sort of thing so looking for helping on what accessories we could add to it?

Only come up with some hanging artificial plants so far?

Loathe artificial plants (apologies!) - dust traps!
How about lots of different photos in frames, to make a montage?

DibDibDibduh · 11/07/2020 08:38

lots of photos in different frames at different levels, not in a line

There's a few "typical" options- gallery wall, long shelf with pictures stacked onto it, one large print etc.

For me it depends how busy the rest of the room is.

I like a gallery wall but one which has (eg) nine large square frames with all black and white prints in etc. Rather than a selection of different sizes and types of photos.

Some examples of the ways I mentioned.

Is there a window opposite? What about one or more mirrors to reflect light around the room. Pictures with black frames look good on mustard. I would also try to even up your top paint line, with coving this is generally easier with a cutting in brush rather than with masking tape.

Fake plants are just a tacky fad right now. What about a large square of coloured glass and you can get a white pen and use it as a whiteboard.
Or a very large painting.

I'd put a floating shelf right the way along the wall, half way up, for ( a very few) pictures and ornaments. Then a large mirror and some art of different sizes, maybe a plate or mask or similar wall decoration to break up the lines

Horehound · 11/07/2020 08:53

Gallery wall art also a fad

Tinks15 · 11/07/2020 09:02

Thanks all.

@weepingwillow22 yes we have large sliding doors opposite.

The gallery wall would all the prints have to be in a theme or does it look better for them to be all different?

I’ve got a hallway wall with mixed frame sizes, colours and images and I love it.

@CormoranStrike I love your little seating nook. That looks so cosy.

CormoranStrike · 11/07/2020 09:28

Thank you! The chair is currently elsewhere and that nooks hosts my work from home space

These are lovely.
