Desert Island Discs

I have a 4 hour drive coming up. Can anyone recommend their favourite desert island discs as I want to download a few to keep me going.

I would like to hear some more with women I haven't heard of who are successful. I also like a bit of drama to them. I'm not too keen on the really old episodes.

The ones I remember enjoying have been

Sheryl Sandberg
Owner of Green & Blacks (Jo something)
Alan Carr
Ian Wright
Bruno Tonioli
Emily Eavis

Any recommendations would be great!

Franklyshankly - I enjoyed NS' programme but I'm always very aware of politicians putting on a performance more than any other group - I remember thinkingwhen David Cameron picked The Killers, yeah, sure................, and Boris Johnson and Booker T and the MG's? Okeydoke!

Cloudhopping · 10/07/2020 17:05

I second Sabrina Hatton-Cohen.

If you want a change from Desert Island Discs, Dame Sue Black's interview with Jim Al Khalili on the Life Scientific was spell binding. I held my breath when she spoke about her experiences in Kosovo.
For DID Nigel Owens, Dame Sally Davies, Sabrina Heaton-Cohen, and the american lawyer who worked in Afghanistan were good. Jim AL Khalili DID was interesting.

Kathy Burke
Bob Mortimer
Mickey Flannigan
Alison Moyet
Alex Crawford (female journalist who has reported from war zones)

Marian keyes is ace

BUT I've just discovered Fortunately.. ..with Fi Glover and Jane Garvy, and it's fantastic. They have a new guest every week and it's just very funny chats.
Sara Cox and, again, Marian keyes were great

NomadNoMore · 10/07/2020 20:28

Lem Sissay (sp?)
Bruce Springsteen
Nigella
Tom Hanks

I remember David Tennant coming across as hugely likeable and engaging. Although Morrissey is an arse, I thought Kirsty handled him magnificently. And I really enjoyed John Timpson (of the shoe menders) as well. Kathy Burke was brilliant and had the best ever luxury item.

Not sure any of these were better than Ian Wright though!

lakeswimmer · 10/07/2020 20:48

Lots of episodes I've enjoyed have already mentioned. I just came on to say one of my faves was Kathy Burke who had the best luxury item and see TheTurnOfTheScrew has beaten me to it Grin

I also listened to several episodes of Fortunately when doing some decorating recently and would recommend it.
