This is just something I've been thinking about just casually so interested to hear peoples opinions.
When I was 13 (not that long ago, I'm early 20s), I went on a foreign exchange to Germany to stay with a family I had no idea about.
I remember meeting my exchange and her dad at the airport and her dad had a striking resemblance to a German serial killer I had seen a documentary on, I thought what have I got myself into.
Her dad did not live with her so presumably was not on the completed paperwork, but drove us from the airport to her house which was about an hour, to Hamburg about 2 1/2 hours away and to the beach. As it turns out he was lovely and so were her family.
I spent quite a lot of time on my own in the house because she went to church practise and her mum said it would be boring for me to go. Her brother had learning disabilities and I was a woken from a nap one day to the helper in my face wanting to introduce herself and shake my hand, again lovely but I realised I had no idea who would be in and out.
Anyway to the point, I'm not sure if my opinion is swayed because of the true crime documentaries I've watched recently but does anyone else think that foreign exchanges of the like at that age will not be a thing in the future or am I looking into it too much?
