No ice cream!

What the hell is going on with the stocks of ice cream in Iceland and Asda lately? I have accounts for online deliveries with both these stores and I'm trying to order some ice cream cones (Cornetto type things but the own brand ones). All I'm getting is 'out of stock' on about 90% of them! And even when I DID manage to find one that WAS in stock, when I went to the checkout, again it came up as 'out of stock'.

I could understand it if we were in the middle of a heatwave, but at around 18 - 20 degrees C it's hardly been hot over the last week. Just what is going on?! Has anyone else had this trouble?

Yeah I noticed the same. I ordered some of the Nuii salted caramel and macadamia nut ice cream and was really looking forward to it being delivered - it was the only thing that didn't come and wasn't substituted either.

Tesco own brand cones have been in short supply round us. They have cornettos but my elder DS actually prefers the own brand versions and they are half the price so I prefer them too! Dairy free ice cream for my younger son has been a bit hit and miss too - last week there was plenty but couldn't get any this week. I wonder if it is because there is a shortage of dairy ice cream so that people who wouldn't normally buy it are getting dairy free, a bit like people bought up gluten free pasta when all the regular stuff was sold out? I have to admit that the weather doesn't influence my ice cream buying much - we eat it all year round - but I agree that it is odd that there is a shortage right now.

Demand for supermarket packs will be much higher than normal as usually people would buy a lot of icecream out of the home. So the ice cream factories will be set up to make X boxes of 4 or 6 cones for supermarkets and Y boxes of 24 cones for shops.

It's time consuming and expensive to change this. Often it'll be a different factory line to box each.

Whilst it hasn't been a complete heatwave, the day to day demand for supermarket packs will have shifted loads and this will put pressure on the supply chain.

Tesco have been ok for Lotus biscoff ice creams, although I notice they are quite melted when they arrive. Baking powder and chocolate chips is what I've never been able to get
