Quick question regarding furlough and going back to work

I work in the public sector. Place in question not opening until Wednesday (July 15th) had an email saying that I need to put holiday through for that week as I cannot fulfil work between Wednesday and Sunday. Are they allowed to do this?

Your employer can make you take your holiday on specific days, yes.

Are you currently furloughed? When does your furlough end if so?

@Todaythiscouldbe I am currently furloughed. I received an email from my manager asking if I could work a couple of days that week (after the 15th) today, which I thought was a bit short notice. I don’t even have child care for a start

If your contract states two days a week then yes, they can make you take holiday, if it states monday & tuesday then no they can't as they won't be open so you can't work. You could argue that your days have become implied contractual.

My employer gave me and some of my team 24-48 hours notice of being unfurloughed and we were not allowed to refuse
