London - Leeds trains

Does anyone get this LNER train regularly? Just wondering how busy they are nowadays and what measures they have been taking for social distancing etc?

I think you need to book those in advance - so there's no problem with there being too many people on the train?

MargotMoon · 07/07/2020 14:40

Yeah but the seating plan shows all the usual seats available which suggests that there is no distancing on the train from other people.

Your seat map should be adjusted, if you are getting the option of all the seats I would alert them to that through social media. They are usually quite responsive and will get someone to look into it.

I think there is a limit to how many reservations per carriage and you can't travel without one, so there will be distancing. I see LNER trains a lot when I'm out and about as they go through my city and there is hardly anyone on them.

MargotMoon · 08/07/2020 06:45

That's helpful, thanks. I will message them as definitely getting all the seat options up when I go to choose where to sit

I know this was a while ago but MargotMoon did you make the journey? How packed was the train?

Ghostlyglow · 13/09/2020 09:15

I did it the other week. It wasn't very busy, although one woman decided she couldn't possibly sit in her reserved seat (going backwards) so several people had to move around to accommodate her and keep distant Hmm

thatone · 13/09/2020 12:06

Thanks Ghostlyglow, that's good to know. 'm hoping people will be complying with mask wearing (unless medically unable).

Blimey, that woman sounds annoying, lucky that people accommodated her.

Ghostlyglow · 13/09/2020 16:07

We all had masks on in the carriage I was in @thatone. There were a few announcements reminding people to comply, but I've no idea if it would be enforced if people weren't wearing them. Staff were passing through the train both there and back, a couple of days later, but I didn't see any interaction with passengers at all. Only slight issue I had was on the train towards London they didn't manage to get the aircon on until we were out of Stevenage so we were boiling in masks!

Dd is on the London to York train right now. It’s busy, one woman has been ‘told off’ by a train official for not wearing a mask already and it doesn’t sound like passengers are well spaced out

thatone · 13/09/2020 18:32

Ghostlyglow, we will be travelling on Saturday - hope the AC works if it is as hot as predicted.

MrsHodgilbert that doesn't sound good. Masks are even more essential if people are packed in.
