Ikea Kura and mattresses

If your DC have a Kura, what height of mattress do they have with it? Also, any particular recommendations?

Looking for pocket sprung but as low height as possible. Happy to spend on something decent that will last well (equally will be happy if an Ikea job does fit this bill!). Will have the bed on the bottom at first but will flip it when we’re happy DC is less of a liability.

You will need and Ikea mattress as they are different size to typical UK mattresses. I can't remember what type we had with ours though, it's a few years since we had it.

Thanks - it’s 90x200, which I believe is standard single? I know they used to do their own sizes but have expanded to include UK standard widths and lengths.

Yes you have to buy the longer European sized mattress. We got a cheap Ikea foam one and it's not very comfy! So don't do thatGrin

Also the top bar bit makes it very annoying if/when you have to put the child back into bed. Bought it thinking my child stayed in bed at bedtime...Confused
Should make a fab mid sleeper/bunk bed later on

Notabadger · 07/07/2020 15:28

They do both 190cm and 200cm mattresses I think. But kura only comes in 200.

I think we have the malfors one which is foam and fairly low. I don't find it that comfortable but my daughter seems pretty happy with it.

Ristar · 07/07/2020 15:33

Also we got the house canopy and she loves it. As a pp said the height of the bar is a bit of a pest, but I can live with it.

CoveredInBeeeees · 07/07/2020 15:56

Thanks. Definitely needs to start on the ‘lower’ flip and definitely sprung only due to our own past experiences with other types. Any recommendations for those?

Hey what mattress did you decide on?? I’m having exactly the same dilemma. Don’t want a foam mattress. And can’t find a pocket sprung that would be thin enough to work when its at the top of the bed. Thanks!!

I just posted about this then found this thread! Wasn’t sure of the mattress size but that’s great if it is 90x 200cm that it takes :) wasn’t clear on IKEA site

I realise this is an old post, but I have a Kura on order and I went for the £90 Malfors 90x200

paddingtonbear26 · 07/04/2021 22:01

Amazing! Think that’s what I’ll go for! Let me know how you get on.

We have the kura and the foam ikea mattress. Its about 4 years old now and the mattress is still comfortable unlike our expensive memory foam mattress thats gone all lumpy.

user64332 · 07/04/2021 22:06

Our expected delivery date isn't until the 22nd April (and from previous experience this will possibly be ignored by them) but I will report back if you haven't got yours by then Grin.

I specifically wanted foam because one of my DC has asthma, we are using ours like bunk beds so needed 2 mattresses.
