Show what blood group you are?

I know mine because I give blood but DS wants to know his and we were wondering if his records will show this.

Usually only if he’s had specific bloods which would show this like a group and save pre op I’m Sure the newborn heel prick doesn’t test for that either so unlikely it’ll be on his file tbh

Alwaystwomagpies · 06/07/2020 20:03

Nope not unless there was ever a specific reason to test it
It’s not a routine test unless requiring a transfusion or a few other very unusual reasons.

Are you rhesus negative? If so they will have checked his blood type when he was born (I only know this because I'm rhesus negative)

Otherwise he will have had to have had a specific test.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case as I assumed I would know otherwise.

No it wouldn't be on GP records.

I work in Gp practice, no not unless you have ever given birth it will be on your mother and baby discharge summary. Or if you have ever had a major operation.
