Residential Parking Permit

Posting here for traffic..

We moved to our new house the day before lockdown started. Since that very day we've been trying to get our residential.parking permit. They're being extremely slow (everything via email) and we've already got a fine. The closest restriction free parking spot is about a 10-15min walk. With an 8 month old that's pretty much impossible.

Everything is now on hold because the previous owner never sent her old parking permit back. At this pace it's going to take at least another month or more. Any ideas of what can I do in the meantime? TIA

unless there is a disability involved, I don't get how a 10 minute walk with an 8 month old is pretty much impossible?

Ifailed OP possibly has shopping etc to bring in, as well as her child.

I think you'll have to park in the restricted area, unload any shopping, move to an unrestricted area and then walk back. A total Pain in the arse I agree but until the permit comes through it's the only way.

If the system is run by the local council, can you not provide a copy of your council tax bill showing the date from which you were responsible for it for the address and v5 showing the address the car is registered to? Usually the council involved will waive any penalties in such circumstances. It won't be the first time someone has failed to return a permit - I bet most do.

Does your area have visitor parking/scratch cards etc? It might cover you in the interim till the permanent one arrives?

Where I used to live where there was residents' parking they gave you a number for temporary use which the parking attendants could check and their system would show the physical permit was pending issue.

When this happened to us I went and bought 100quid worth of visitor parking cards until I could get my permit. A massive pita but worth it as we needed them for various trades anyway and they dont run out.

I can only get scratch through the same team :/ I've raised a formal complain as I dtatw dthat I have been trying to get it fixed for months now and the agent replied it had been weeks, so proceeded to send a screenshot and called to make the complaint.
