Anxiety help

Sparkles512 · 06/07/2020 02:38

Hi I have been suffering with my anxiety recently, work has been a major factor they haven't been treating me very nicely.
I am struggling to sleep and just generally struggling to cope, are there any herbal remedies or things I can try to ease my symptoms?
Thank you for your help xx

Have you been to the doctor?

Sparkles512 · 06/07/2020 02:51

I haven't seen a doctor but worried they will just give me pills that make me feel worse 😞 xx

I would also suggest speaking to your GP or self referring to your local talking therapies/iapt (improving access to psychological therapies) for CBT to manage the anxiety (presuming you are in the UK) x

@drrb thank you I will give the Dr's a call in the morning! I am in the UK and have previously had CBT so not sure if they will let me have anymore sessions without paying which I can't afford 😞 xx

You have received some sound advice here.
Just as an aside many years ago I used Kalms herbal tablets which I seem to remember helped a bit, maybe a placebo effect? There are also things like rescue remedy which I haven’t tried but are similar I think. Both are available from supermarkets so I should think they would be worth considering.
I hope things improve for you soon OP.

@Sparkles512 you can be referred several times for CBT with the NHS for free. Some services also work with Richmond fellowship which is a great organisation for employment support for various issues. And you can try self help websites in the meantime for techniques such as get self help or cci x

You don't have to take anything you don't want to take 👍 And there shouldn't be a problem being referred for CBT again. Though the waiting lists can be very long.

What might be to your advantage is that you've done CBT before, so I think it would be worth looking up resources online to help jog your memory, and maybe you can start using some of the techniques you learnt in your previous therapy.

@Mixedandproud @drrb @JoyFreeCake thank you for all your advice and support!
I will give the doctors a call tomorrow and look into some more CBT and dig out my old materials xx

Good luck! It's miserable not sleeping and feeling anxious, and they feed into one another.
