Changing our lounge decor. Seen lovely chenielle charcol sofas lounge is quite dark so walls have to be a fairlt light grey.

But...not sure what colour colour to accent it all with. Alot of people go with mustard which I dont mind but need some other ideas

I really dislike the trend for mustard/ yellow with grey/charcoal.
It’s been around for a while now but isn’t nice.
Agree with above- neutral tones!

sorryiasked · 05/07/2020 18:58

Turquoise or teal if you want colour rather than neutrals.

Deep emerald green gets my vote! Any jewel tone would look nice.

I have the same dilemma OP!! I'm looking at shades with a hint of blue??

SurreyHillsGirl · 05/07/2020 19:16

Dusky pink is beautiful with charcoal grey

Overseasmom100 · 05/07/2020 19:33

I like deep turquoise/green but DH doesnt.
I also like this ... not sure how to describe it...metal furniture...like gold/brass but not

Do you mean a rose gold ? Or a copper ?

OuzoWoozo · 05/07/2020 19:45

Ahhh, same here. We have gone wuth cream on three walls, with Wickes Moon Shadow on one wall.

Charcoal sofas too, so accessoried with cream cushions and throws and natural/reclaimed wood furniture.

The room is quite a light one though, and larger so carries it off well.

Agree, I am sick of the mustard clash.

Overseasmom100 · 05/07/2020 20:06

Ouzo sounds lovely.

Was going to say mustard and grey/blue like my living room but seeing as there is such a dislike for it I won't 🙄

Supermarketworker06 · 05/07/2020 20:09

We have red

fairplay · 05/07/2020 20:29

We have grey sofas, blue and orange cushions, blue cupboard, white walls and white dog fur Grin

We’ve recently done our living room and I’m so happy with it. No theme to the colours as such (I didn’t want it to be too matchy matchy) but it’s turned out lovely:

-charcoal sofas
-white walls
-oak furniture
-skimp curtains with grey, cream, teal, ocre and pale blue circles. Sounds like a lot but they’re beautiful.
-some plants in teal and white pots
-cream picture frames with ocean prints that mirror the colour in the curtains.

For cushions we went to TK Maxx/home sense and were absolutely spoiled for choice. We did a mixture of grey velvet/grey cotton on the reverse, 2 large patterned ones with teal/ocre and grey and then a couple of small bolsters. They had so many beautiful colours and fabrics and they all had feather inserts, they were £15 each-well worth it,

*scion curtains

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 05/07/2020 20:35

We have grey sofas and a wall in a soft olive green called Crushed Aloe. Voile dress curtains in the same colour and cushions that are brightly coloured

YorkshireParentalPerson · 05/07/2020 20:39

I'm thinking of getting grey sofas but I was going to do pale walls and, either a Heather / sage green curtains & cushions, or a really rich purple. Haven't quite decided yet!

AncientRainbowABC · 05/07/2020 20:47

Maybe look at Farrow & Ball’s Elephant’s Breath for walls (it’s pinky hued but quite neutral) and then you can add another colour like emerald and/or aqua. It’s a bit more vibrant than charcoal/mustard and if you have any natural wood (floors/tables/doors) it all comes together well.

I really, really like the sound of that. Noted for next time.

I have charcoal sofas and went with greens/teals for cushions, light teal curtains and navy wallpaper.

vanillandhoney · 05/07/2020 21:22

We have a charcoal sofa and deep burgundy walls.
