Pillow for neck pain?

I can't get comfortable at night as my neck feels stiff, especially at the base of my skull. I've got a pillow with a ledge and it helped at first with tension but it's not cutting the mustard anymore. I sleep on my side and sometimes my back. Just wondered if anybody had an amazing fix all pillow they could recommend?

Watching with interest.
I have wear and tear in my neck & sleep on my side/back and I am in constant pain.
I hope someone has a link to a magic pillow we can use.

I have this pillow ...

I no longer have a stiff, painful neck when I wake up.
Can find it cheaper on Amazon.

I have a buckwheat hull pillow that I absolutely love.

I had a problem with neck pain that was causing me migraines and I got this from Marks and Spencer. From the first night I used it the neck problem went away.

@AuntieDolly that sounds really interesting. Did you have a painful neck before you got it, if so is it now better? Can you not feel all the little bits being all lumpy? Where did you get it? I would love to go and feel one in a store before I buy. Thanks.

The John Lewis one is well out of my price range &, I can’t put my finger on why, but memory foam doesn’t appeal to me.

I was in agony every morning therefore what something was made of was neither here nor there if it worked. And it did. Again, cheaper versions available on Amazon and eBay.

I got a contour pillow from IKEA.

First night was shit.

Second night, I slept like a log, then as I woke of and moved slightly, all the little facet joints in my neck popped and my 5 year long headache that ebbed and flowed from dull ache to abject agony disappeared.

If the house catches on fire, I am leaving the burning building with a cat under one arm and my pillow under the other.

That's very similar to the pillow I have @wowfudge - I was having migraines too and it sorted that almost immediately. But this is a new issue I think and because I sleep on my side the pillow isn't working. I like the look of the John Lewis one but it's out of stock and 1-2 months wait on amazon Sad

The M&S can be used in 3 different ways depending on how you sleep.

wowfudge · 05/07/2020 15:23

I meant your sleeping position.

DivisionBelles · 05/07/2020 15:26

Following. I wake up most nights with my neck in spasm so would love a recommendation for a comfy, not too expensive pillow that would help.

Have you tried turning it round so the edge with the different height is underneath your neck?
