Huge sympathy for anyone struggling with the NHS at the moment. I may work for it, but I've already had to go private twice (for DH) and am well aware of its inadequacies.
One thing I find ridiculous, I'm a nurse in a GP practice and I get a 10 minute slot to take someone's blood. Only very occasionally does it take longer, it usually takes me maybe 3 minutes. The GP gets a 10 minute slot to take a patient history, find out what is wrong and come up with a treatment plan. Plus documenting that. How does this make sense?!
Or the fact that to see a specialist, you need a GP referral, so using up one of the precious appointments just for a form, basically. Surely it would save more time and money to self refer than the few wasted appointments of people who don't actually need the referral.
So many wasteful policies and needless barriers to people actually getting the care they need.
Had my A/L confirmed, I have two separate weeks off in August, hoping to use my new bargain tent. Next door wanted to go to the campsite up the road for a weekend for a big birthday, the campsite is opening but not with toilets. So you can only go if you have your own toilet. Because, covid.
The worst thing is, my friends thought this was reasonable! I mean, surely the people who are worried about catching covid from a toilet at a canspite aren't going bloody camping (or are already planning to use their own toilets). How is LESS access to hygiene the answer here and more importantly, why can't I decide for my fucking self whether I want to use the toilets.
Well be going to another local campsite which is proudly advertising its new toilet block!
