Slight tweak to the suggestion, but here it is.

Thanks @Shodan.

HesterShaw1 · 05/07/2020 21:21

There's a local lockdown in Galicua apparently. This will be a sign we should all strictly lockdown in the UK indefinitely.

Spikes will happen.

PickAChew · 05/07/2020 21:29
@LivinLaVidaLoki We were due to travel on 20 August and got our email last Thursday so I would definitely get on to them. I cancelled online yesterday.. Had a momentary heart failure when it looked as though we would have to pay cancellation charges but it said that this was automatic on the email and we would be refunded the whole amount 3-5 days. I've saved it all out in case of difficulty.

So no holidays at all this year unless we get a few days away in the UK. Perhaps we'll go down to the West Country and see if we can see any locals waving pitchforks.
I just keep getting this bloody trypophobia inducing t-shirt

NothingIsWrong · 05/07/2020 21:29

If it was announced that lockdown would be indefinite, UNTIL YOU ALL BEHAVE YOURSELVES, I don't know what I would do.

PickAChew · 05/07/2020 21:30

That was meant to quote @Ibake

No idea what happened, there.

NothingIsWrong · 05/07/2020 21:30

Jesus those should come with a brain bleach warning. That makes me twitch so badly!

Mascotte · 05/07/2020 21:30

@NothingIsWrong that's what it feels like.

I would not behave myself. Because you can't guarantee anyone else will. So what's the point in compliance if you know it will never get you your freedom?
LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 05/07/2020 21:33

@NothingIsWrong ooh DH and DC free time? Envy Would they like to take my lot with them?

I so miss being alone.

I've bought a Gazebo and I'm going to transform our crappy patio in our shitty little garden into an oasis of calm. I already have beanbags and a chimnea, I need lights and a hammock next!
Gazebo will also function to block the many overlooking neighbours from seeing me (I'm sure they aren't even looking, but our garden feels very overlooked!) and make it feel a little more private. Currently the garden is barely used, I went through a brief garden phase at the beginning of lock down but the novelty wore off rapidly. Need to get back on it! I'm sure if I make it more welcoming to be outside then I'll be more likely to take care of the garden.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 05/07/2020 21:35

@PickAChew that was cruel! My sister introduced me to Tripophobia last year - one of those phobias you don't know you have until someone shows you horrible photos!

TeacupDrama · 05/07/2020 21:35

Don't think the adverts are that specialised I keep getting the same one silk pillows the no £5 supermarket wine and the cancer avoiding bra

Going to bed early ready for my trip to England, shops without government muzzles and sit in cafes

I agree with above posters the national church has been disappointing, hiding instead of serving, (some smaller churches have done much better) their Victorian counterparts would have been ashamed, why has anxiety given way to fear, not exactly biblical. Paul wouldn't have got far on his missionary journeys if his and his listeners safety was of paramount importance. Whether you believe or not people know that fear for the future that paralyses doesn't come from faith in God. People rightly expect more from the religious, hope, comfort, practical help, sympathy not hiding away in case they catch something, or thinking they have to protect us from ourselves, the congregation should decide for themselves whether they want to go to a service, Bible study, mass or communal prayer at the mosque or synagogue. People should be standing up and saying it's guidelines not legislation,

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 05/07/2020 21:36

Trypophobia even. Urrghh, the holes!

Ibake · 05/07/2020 21:37

Those are nasty @pickachew! Bet the reality is somewhat different too. I like typing the product name into google and adding the word 'review' afterwards. Usually pretty enlightening! Has anyone ever ordered from Shein? I always think their clothes look really lovely but the prices are way too low and the reviews are shocking. Just wondered if anyone had any success with them?

110APiccadilly · 05/07/2020 21:46

I'm getting adverts for wine and breast pumps. Which, intriguingly, implies that they both do and don't know I'm pregnant.

Mascotte · 05/07/2020 21:49

@110APiccadilly Schroedinger's pregnancy

110APiccadilly · 05/07/2020 21:54

That's what I used to call the two week wait while we were TTC!!

FrugiFan · 05/07/2020 21:58

I saw my 96 year old great nan today. She cuddled the baby and read stories with my 3 year old. She said she isnt concerned about the virus and just wants to see her great and great-great grandchildren while she can. She has been walking to the town, shopping in the outdoor market. She wants to get on with living her life and she doesnt want our lives to go down the pan to protect hers.

I agree with @Mascotte that it does feel like that right now: even with the supposed "freedoms" of yesterday, there's lots of stuff we should be doing but still can't, such as swimming and recreational sport, both much needed for public health. Yes, the irony. We've been handed liver-destroying pubs on a plate, but still denied constructive ways to improve our health.

If an announcement like that is made, especially if it includes the word "behave", then the gloves (and dog muzzles) will come straight off, and it's time for the riots and civil unrest, which I'm still surprised haven't happened after all this time. SD markers will be ripped from the pavements.

Let's remind ourselves that the government are our servants, not the other way round. Boris said lied "we can turn this virus around in twelve weeks". By that reasoning, all of our freedoms should have been reinstated by now, fifteen weeks later. He'd better quickly make some announcements about what will be rightfully restored next, not more "build build build" hot air.

DominaShantotto · 05/07/2020 22:09

They’ve been threatening to call the police on parents lifting kids over playground fences to play here today.

I don’t want to live in this world any longer.

wanderings · 05/07/2020 22:14

@rookiemere On my local Facebook there's been a message "very poor turnout for NHS 72nd birthday". Sigh. I thought this Orwellian clapping was over, along with the truant officers monitoring attendance. The only thing I'm going to clap and cheer for is when then anti-dementors triumph, and project fear is over.

BogRollBOGOF · 05/07/2020 22:15

I'm glad we're getting the same awful adverts.
It makes me laugh when you've clicked on a link in a fugly clothes/ shoes thread and get tormented for the next month by similar fugly adverts.

We're talking holidays. Probably static caravan. Probably south coast/ west country zone. We're wanting variety of countryside as my idea of a holiday does not include an itinery booked by half-hour slots. Especially with my offspring who can find so many innovative ways to screw up an instruction like "put your shoes on" Grin

SiL who is lovely but utterly different to me did the big Disney thing a few years back. It's not my cup of tea, and especially the fact that it costs ££,£££ and is such a big thing to a lot people. I do try hard with polite interest. I asked what did she love about it and she replied brightly "it was so well organised!" They knew exactly where they were eating and at what time every night. Each day planned out in advance.

We are very, very different people Grin
I'd need a real holiday somewhere basic, in a tent to recover from that Wink

NannyPhlegm · 05/07/2020 22:17

You lot can talk! I spend one day in real life and I've missed a good part of the last thread and the beginning of this.

It's howling and freezing here today. My brother in England called to ask if we'd been out to a pub last night, had to remind him that Wales still is in the Dark Ages. I think he felt a bit guilty for enjoying himself, but I'm pleased that life is returning to normal in one part of this country at least. Hope for the rest of us.

lbake My daughter buys from Shein often. As long as you take the delivery times with a fistful of salt, it's generally good. I don't know how it wears after a wash though, as she does her own laundry.
She's never complained about the company or its clothes

BlackberryViolet · 05/07/2020 22:17

If your first thought on seeing kids in a playground is to call the cops you need to take a long hard look at yourself. You’ve lost your humanity.

They should have been opened long before now. Despite having an OK weekend I’m getting more pissed off that despite the freedoms granted yesterday it’s currently a pale imitation of life. I can’t wait for the gyms to be open and dd1 to be able to go back to training. I want some movements on dd2s education. I’d like her to have one please. She’s had no placement since January.

We want you. Go west a bit. Our council playgrounds are open (shame about the loos) The two parks that have a park run have good play areas.

We did lift our two over a fence in a parish playground today. We did an 8 mile walk they deserved a play partway round and a change of muscles.
I remindeed DS1 that he's below the age of criminal responsibility. Grin
I don't think it could be a criminal issue anyway if there is no damage. Trespass is a civil matter not criminal.

Allflightscancelled · 05/07/2020 22:24

I'm with you Bogroll. I'd hate being super organised on a £££££ holiday.

People say 'oh haven't you tried Disneyworld/Orlando? You'd love it' No, no I really wouldn't.

'Oh you should go on a cruise. You'd love it!' No, really, I'd rather chew my own arm off. I'm happy that you love it, but believe me when I say I'd hate it. I'm antisocial, hate crowds, claustrophobic and hate planning more than half an hour ahead. Especially on holiday but on most other occasions also.
