Bit silly but Did you find it a bit emotional getting rid of the last baby item?

Our youngest is 3, I've used the same pushchair for my 2children, Absolutely love it!
Dc has'nt used it in about 12months..., Its just been in the side room folded away .
Dp said " Time to sell that now we dont Use it"
He is right ,but I feel a little bit sad that this is the last baby item we have really....,
I secretly feel like washing it all up, Gold coating it and hiding it away in the attic , haha!

Is there any item you were a bit sad to see go?

DS is nearly three and will be an only.
I have a weird thing about his tiny baby clothes Blush I've lent out loads of his other baby bits - bath, cot etc to friends who have had babies after us. I've donated all his 'grown out of' toddler clothes to various charities.... but those first clothes, I don't want anyone else to have them!

You have maybe both seen but places online are now taking your best saved baby things like clothes and blankets and turning them into either bears or blankets for you. Memory items.

I'm expecting d2 but will absolutely do this when the time comes.

Aw I think that's cute. I actually don't use the pram much so don't have a tie to it but the clothes...yes I think I'll keep my favourite pieces.

I think we will have a second baby (first is 10 months) but I love him so much I feel like why should I have another and will I feel the same love for them as I do for my first little precious baby?

mynameisntlouise · 04/07/2020 22:16

I saved everything from my first and my second, and last is 10 weeks now. It's weird knowing I'll soon be getting rid of the Moses basket I've had for both of them but also a bit of a relief that I'll be able to be rid of bulky baby items like the basket, pushchairs, car seats etc as time goes on.

Baby clothes is the thing that gets me. I try and keep a practical mind about it, nice bits I'll try and sell on eBay and other basics bits I'll drop at a family charity so I feel good about it.

There's certain things, their first outfits in the hospital, little tiny things they both wore, tiny socks... I don't know if I'll be able to bring myself to get rid, but what am I going to do with it really? Frame it? Get it all out and cry every now and then? Idk.

I'm planning on keeping a few items because I absolutely can't part with them (though they probably won't be much good if/when grandchildren come along). I too, plan to make memory teddies from babygrows etc.

Isthisfinallyit · 05/07/2020 06:38

My mum saved the baby dresses that my gran (dads mum) sewed for me and my childhood curtains. I'm now pregnant and love having these things. Good quality too. I plan on taking a picture of baby with each item and sending them to my dad (mum died long time ago).

I’ve still got a few tiny-baby clothes of dds, now 40 and 43. And one each of their first shoes. They won’t go until I’m taken out in a box.

lachy · 05/07/2020 09:00

I've kept the first babygro DD wore along with her tiny hat. I've also got her coming home outfit, he's first pair of shoes and a couple of other little bits.

I was very sad to get rid of her pushchair, I shed a tear or two.

LittleMachine · 05/07/2020 09:28

I'm an anti-hoarder and not sentimental, I barely keep anything. But I still have my sling collection, even though my boys are 8 and 6 now. I let people borrow them, but I make it clear I want them back.

JulieTheObscure · 05/07/2020 09:58

Oh god, no this isn't weird (is it?!)

I have a little memory box under the bed of all the little bits and bobs from when DC was tiny - hospital bracelet and anklet, tiny clothes etc. Why not?

But then I have memory boxes from high school and things too which I absolutely love looking through occasionally, so it's how I'm wired!

I might do a box frame of some special bits to display at some point if I ever get round to it.

Not really worried if some people think it's odd if it makes me happy!

Our youngest is about to turn 5, and our buggy is still in the garage! It was the one thing that DH really got passionate about when I was pregnant with our eldest, and he put so much into choosing it. It was pretty much the only buggy we used (apart from when flying) and has so many memories.

I also still have the stretchy wrap I carried them both in when they were tiny. It wouldn’t be useable now, but I can’t let it go.

Lollypop4 · 06/07/2020 22:34

I'm so glad there are a few buggy lovers!!!
I am indeed going to wash it, wrap it, hide it in attic haha!!

I have 4 children in total 17yrs -3...,
As stated above kept the tiny clothes that were favourites , hospital bands (1st was very prem so all her milestone certificates off staffand the tiniest knitted hat that held her vent in place, it hobestly fits a small orange in it - 1lb 13 @ birth, all these things stored along with school reports, special arty bits - I kept nearly ever line of paint drawn..., by the 3rd, only the best drawings 😬, each of my children have a very large storage box so far .....!!!! yikes
