Dentists??

Does anyone know if dentists are open and treating patients? Particularly children?

13 yr old DS has a horrible toothache in a back molar. Can't really see anything definite. Have had a look & there may be a small chunk of tooth missing which may be causing the pain.

Going to get him some painkillers & clove oil from the chemist now. Any other good remedies that can tide him over until we can get it seen?

I have shit crumbly teeth and know how miserable tooth pain is...

DS has his 6 monthly check up next week. Our dentist sent the letter appointment last week.

I was due to have my 6 month check up last week but it was cancelled the week before and when I rang them they said they aren't rearranging yet and are still only doing emergency appointments.

I'd call that an emergency and ring them to find out what they suggest

I have had a molar out this week via an emergency dental hub he will need referring by a dentist to one. Buy temporary tooth filler from any chemist surprisingly they do work I broke my tooth on day 2 of Lockdown and it was ok for months with this stuff in.

Yes dentists have been able to open for a while though some aren’t yet. Have you not tried contacting your DS’s dentist yet?

FaintlyMacabre · 03/07/2020 17:59

I just had a tooth out as an emergency at my dentist. They’re not doing routine appointments yet but when I rang them I was called back straight away by a dentist for a triage call then in the next day for treatment.
So definitely ring them up and see what they can do, he shouldn’t be suffering!
Also, I’ve found ibuprofen the best painkiller for it.

I had been referred for a tooth out before lock down. Obviously got cancelled. Now in a lot of pain, original dentist says nothing they can do, the place they referred me to needs to see me. The referral place says they are seeing their own patients first and they will contact me in September when they get round to seeing referrals.

I’m going to phone my own dentist on Monday and plead to them to see me. The pain this afternoon has become awful.

Thanks all.

No, normal dentist just ringing out but will keep trying.

Typical that it's 6pm on a Fri!!

Got him some ibuprofen & put clove oil on a cotton wool pad. He declared that it was definitely the most disgusting thing he'd ever tasted. But the pain has subsided a little.

I can't see an obvious hole in the tooth & the top looks fine. Possibly a small crack / chunk on the side but I'm no expert.

He did lose the baby tooth next to this one last week so wonder if it could be his teeth shifting a bit?

Anyway, I'll keep trying the dentist and failing that, there's a dental hospital not far who might see him over the weekend.
