Eurgh, I am such a disgusting pig

Food shopping order came this morning. I fancied some chocolate so bought a 4 pack of the standard sized dairy milk bars. I just ate three of them one after the other and now I feel sick. I am nearly 30 FFS Blush What is wrong with me? I'm always like this. If I have a packet of biscuits it is completely gone within an hour at most. I could eat a multi pack of crisps in an afternoon. I have no self control with food at all. I am in awe of everyone else who has a packet of biscuits in their drawer and takes out one or two to have with a coffee. I thought I would grow out of this but I only get worse. Somehow I am not overweight, I think because I don't buy a lot of snacks simply because I can't be trusted with them. I don't know why I'm posting this, but I am a total secret eater and had to share it with someone Blush
(Yes I know, there are lots of people starving and I should just be thankful to have such free access to food)

You only ate 3 small bars of chocolate. It's hardly akin to kicking a kitten or punching a puppy, is it.

Beebeet · 03/07/2020 12:41

I am the same so I just don't buy it, I'd rather go without then binge because I know what I'm like. But it's only a few bars of chocolate OP, I wouldnt spend any more time thinking about it, it doesn't really matter.

WashedUpDriedOut · 03/07/2020 12:45

I can do this easily. I just don't buy them now. That's the only way. Just don't have them in the house.

QueenOfThePumpkins · 03/07/2020 12:46

It's just how I do it all the time though. And the bar that's left won't last the afternoon, despite how I feel now Blush
Food is all I think about.

Waits for someone to give me a Biscuit

I’m the same but with cheese!

Also crisps. If I don’t start I’m fine. I can stare at a bowl of crisps for hours.

As soon as I eat one that’s it. I’ll keep eating until they’re gone.

actiongirl1978 · 03/07/2020 12:52

I eat 3 bars of aldi 85% chocolate every single day. So 500 call of chocolate.

It gets me through the day and it is a habit.

Don't beat yourself up.

Impatientwino · 03/07/2020 12:53

I'm the same with wine BlushI find it so hard to put the lid on the bottle and not drink it all! I keep it in the cupboard so there isn't any cold and I try to only have 1 or 2 bottles in the house at a time!

My husband is the same with chocolate. It drives him nuts to have an open bar of chocolate lying around when I could quite happily have a single cube every week or so. He said to me that would be like him leaving single glasses of cold white wine round the place so now I don't open chocolate and leave it lying round because he's right it would be torture!

namechangecareerchange · 03/07/2020 12:56

I am EXACTLY the same. Don't even have to like the all that much.
FWIW I'm a size 8 and only this way because if I do that, I'll skip dinner / lunch / breakfast so it's ok calorie wise.
I end up throwing stuff out so as not to eat it. So ... ocado arrives. Scoff 75% of sweets whilst unpacking (even if at 7am) and then 25% into bin.
Such waste / greed.
What's the solution? Other than to not buy them?
I do things like throw out the green sweets so that I can't eat the whole bag. Bonkers.

Brahumbug · 03/07/2020 12:57

BiscuitBiscuit Have 2, you might need them Grin

MynephewR · 03/07/2020 12:57

I'm exactly the same. Not over weight but I eat so much crap, I could easily do those 4 dairy milk bars in one sitting. Also nearly thirty and I know I won't get away with eating like this for much longer.

Difference is that I'm not ashamed, everyone knows me as a chocoholic, I don't eat secretly or try to hide it. OP it isn't something to be ashamed or embarrassed of, it's not good for your health of course but it sounds like you have a really unhealthy attitude towards food. Stop linking food with guilt and shame. Just try not to buy the crap food, if you do and eat it all in one go then it's not the end of the world, it doesn't make you a bad person.

Spied · 03/07/2020 12:57

I ate a 100g bar in bed last night!

LochJessMonster · 03/07/2020 12:57

Same. I have no self control once I’ve bought chocolate or crisps. I hate not being able to just have a normal portion and save the rest.

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/07/2020 12:58

Biscuit looks more like a doughnut than a biscuit lol. I can eat a whole large chocolate bar, in 1 sitting.

FishyMcFishyfingersFace · 03/07/2020 13:45

BiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuit here, have a packet of biscuits (with some taken out for me.)

If you are only eating that much every so often then it is not necessarily a problem, you are taking precautions to stop yourself doing it all the time by not buying it all the time, therefore keeping it under control. (When I eat more it is usually hormone related once a month, not all the time, there could be a good reason why\when you do it.)

If you start losing control of it then that might signal a problem and you might consider finding out if there is a cause\what help might be needed to get it back under control.

Or is your post a bit of an 'I am losing control of my eating habits, what help can I get?' post?

lilliputstreet · 03/07/2020 13:57

I'm the same. I've stopped buying any of it. I noticed my dd was also eating too many snacks and it's halted all of that too. Personally it stems from utter boredom.

lilliputstreet · 03/07/2020 13:58

Oh and Biscuit

Rowgtfc72 · 03/07/2020 14:05

Same here. No self control so dont buy stuff. Fridge is full of DHS cadburys which is safe as I cant stand it and theres walkers crisps in the cupboard for dds pack up. I dont like them either.
You're not a disgusting pig. Just a person with a few food issues. And remember you're not alone.

Atadaddicted · 03/07/2020 14:07

Sounds awful - you poor thing

Does sound like perhaps a bit of a problem, as that’s a binge and you feel “revolting” afterwards.

Atadaddicted · 03/07/2020 14:08

And bin the remaining one!! Right now!

PolloDePrimavera · 03/07/2020 14:09

No! I'll have it!!!

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 03/07/2020 14:12

Its only 3 bars of chocolate, you arent overweight. It really doesnt mattee

Next time just buy an individual bar or a single packet of crisps. Problem solved.

Ghostlyglow · 03/07/2020 14:24

Boring I know, but just don't buy them. It's the only way.

borntohula · 03/07/2020 14:24

If you are a healthy weight (and person in general) who cares.

CommunistLegoBloc · 03/07/2020 14:42

My DP will happily eat a large pack of crisps or a whole bag of doughnuts. He's fit, healthy, active, doesn't do it all the time. He'd think absolutely nothing of it.

I'm fit and healthy too but I feel total shame if I do the above. It's ridiculous the way society has shaped these gendered responses to enjoying food.

TheRealHousewife · 03/07/2020 14:46

Actually if you’re consistently eating 500 cals above your calorie needs per day you will gain 1lb a week. That’s 52lbs in one year or nearly 4 stone!

Plus the cals sugar & sat fat based so you’ll be overloading your insulin levels which eventually leads to type 2 diabetes and all the health problem that will bring. HTH
