Hair loss

I have Crohn's Disease. I have a vitamin B12 injection every three months.

My hair has always fell out but lately it's getting beyond a joke. I wash it and brush it and get two decent handfuls of hair coming out. Every day I get a full brush of hair out.

My hair is quite thick so it's not really noticeable. Is it something I should see the GP about?

I would - get your iron tested, in particular, but also thyroid function. I have ulcerative colitis and am very prone to anaemia, and I lost loads of hair when I was very anaemic after a severe flare that hospitalised me a few years back. It grew back but not until my iron levels improved.

Definitely get it checked out.
Hair loss can be very upsetting.

Thanks. I have managed to get a telephone appointment with the GP.
