Best workbooks for KS1?

Hello,

I'm going to buy some workbooks for a child in year 2 (KSA1?). We haven't been keeping up with the homeschooling sadly, so we want something more structured.

Which books are the best?

The child is good at maths and science, but struggles with English.

We have found the CGP books really good

I’d second CPG.

I’m using them with year one Dd.

I home educated my eldest for years and used them they are really good.

Agreed, the CGP books are great. If you order directly from their website it can be cheaper than Amazon.

We've not done much formal learning, but have used the Collins books. My son loves these as they come with stickers and are bright and engaging.

Another thing I've done is created a cheap scrap book and when out on walks or wherever we go if we find something interesting (a pigeon feather) we take it home and use Google to find out about it (different pigeons of the UK, life cycle) and he writes a little in he scrap book. He sometimes does craft with the item too (a very fetching hat covered in feathers)

We have both struggled with formal sit down learning, but have found the more relaxed approach (backed up with the Collins books ) much easier.

I'm quite laid back though as my eldest missed all of year 7 due to illness and is set to grade 6+ in all her GCSES this summer. So they can and will get back to where they should be over the course of their schooling.
