Favourite type of chocolate?

Mines a toss up between green and blacks milk chocolate or Tony's chocolony when I can get my hands on it!

On a side note, why are all the mainstream chocolate brands so vile now a days ?????

Is it because they're owned by American comps now who have different chocolate expectations

Or is everyone just using the same god awful recipe ??

I quite like cadburys darkmilk. My fav however is hotel chocolate’s pure 100% bars.

MrsJemimaDuck · 01/07/2020 13:05

Probably because Americans bought everything, then did everything they could to cut costs and make as much profit as possible.

GrumpyHoonMain · 01/07/2020 13:06

It’s because chocolate’s biggest markets are in Asia where the taste expectations are similar to the US.

Lindt hazelnut !!! Or galaxy

ReginaaPhalange · 01/07/2020 13:14

And kinder!!

EasilyDelighted · 01/07/2020 14:26

I like Galaxy. Not keen on Tony's though, it was disappointing.

IWantT0BreakFree · 01/07/2020 14:28

My sister went trekking in Costa Rica and brought me a bar of handmade chocolate back. It was the best thing I've ever tasted. Nothing at all like the chocolate you get from the supermarket, totally different.
I do like Lindt 50% milk chocolate though. Not a fan of Cadbury's at all.

Waiting42021 · 01/07/2020 14:37

Big fan of Tony’s! Not had a bar I don’t like yet. I think it’s my favourite chocolate.

I also love Hotel Chocolat’s Dizzy Pralines and I am very partial to a Dairybox Blush

DopamineHits · 01/07/2020 15:14

Cadbury's Dairy Milk before 2010 Sad

DopamineHits · 01/07/2020 15:17

Tony's is too chunky for my liking and it breaks messily.

I just want dairy chocolate, no bragging about how bitter it is, no palm oil greasiness. Nestle held out for a while but now their chocolate bars have that bad aftertaste too.

EngagedAgain · 01/07/2020 15:18

It varies, I like dark 85% sometimes, but also, contrary to opinions on Cadbury's I like that too, and find it hard to resist once I start it. In any guise apart from creme eggs. Also, once had some hotel chocolate, which was liqueur, but not runny inside which I really liked.

Longingtolearn · 01/07/2020 15:18

@IWantT0BreakFree

Wow ! I can't imagine get hunger pangs for that and never being able to grab a bar lol

That is very cool story tho

Cadburys. I dont understand why everyone thinks it's different now, still tastes lush to me.

qwerty222 · 01/07/2020 15:19

Monty bojangles nutty variety

AppleSighDuh · 01/07/2020 15:22

Anything from Leonidas. Droooooool............

Waiting42021 · 01/07/2020 15:30

Must admit I do agree with this though! I’d love it even more if it came in just a normal bar with squares to break off.

IndieRo · 01/07/2020 15:30

@AppleSighDuh,oh yes my absolute favourite. Keep getting ads telling me they are delivering.Confused

happysunr1se · 01/07/2020 15:37

I like Lindt dark mint and Waitrose no1 milk.

Thought it was just me! You've no idea how relieved I am to read this. Thought I was losing my 'choc-grip' and kept trying different brands, still no luck. Now life makes sense again!Grin

Pashazade · 01/07/2020 16:00

Oh Happysun you've reminded me Waitrose do a milk chocolate with a feuilletine layer, it's soooo good. I need to go to Waitrose!

Spam88 · 01/07/2020 16:13

Not a popular opinion on here, but Dairy Milk every time. I'm sure when they changed the recipe they must have added crack because I CANNOT get enough of it.

Bluebellbike · 01/07/2020 17:15

I currently like the Moser Roth Chilli chocolate. It doesn't taste much of chilli though, only a very slight taste which stops it being too rich, as dark chocolate tends to be. It is is a red wrapper with gold lettering. I love that you can buy it as 5 x 125g bars. Just enough for a treat.

SapatSea · 01/07/2020 18:22

I like Tony's Milk and almond honey nougat one, like an upmarket toblerone but I agree it is too chunky, thinner bars please! I stopped buying Green and Black's Almond as I can't resist eating a whole bar in one sitting. I also like Waitrose 1 Milk Chocolate but this has been out of stock since before lockdown. Don't mind the odd bar of ritter sport to save money.

I'm usually disappointed by very upmarket bars with weird additions (like rose and chilli, earl grey tea etc)

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/07/2020 18:43

Lindt hazelnut
Cadbury's Dark milk
