Is thinning hair at the front a(nother) joyous sign of ageing?

I am almost 40 and in the past year or two I have started growing a noticeable moustache and some pretty magnificent sideburns Confused

I am leaving the sidies well alone (they’re blonde ish) and am immac-ing the tache every few weeks.

Anyway I’ve just come to terms with this new beauty regime and now I’ve noticed with some horror that the hair on my head now seems to be thinning at the front Sad

Is this a common but rarely discussed side effect of ageing?? Could it be stress related? (I have a very stressful job atm). I dye my hair myself (dark browny red) and my natural colour is now grey/white.

I don’t think it’s damage from the hair dye as it’s not that the hairs themselves are broken/snapped. It’s just there seems to be fewer of them these days, at the front near my face...

Mine started thinning during peri menopause around 40. I have a photo I took a couple of years ago and I looked practically bald at the front. It seems to have thickened a little since starting HRT a year ago but I do have to be careful how I part it.
The sidies and tache grow thicker than the front of my hair Blush I should have shares in veet.

Almost 40 is usually too young for this type of loss. As it has happened suddenly have a word with your GP - hair loss / facial hair can be a sign of hormonal problems unrelated to menopause.

Mirena made mine fall out. However so did abismallly low vitamin D and iron levels. Once I ramped those things up for a while and ditched the mirena my hair started coming back - I have a halo of small fuzzy baby hairs now!

41 here and my hair started thinning out on the front of the scalp around 12-18 months ago... what a joy!

Cunning colouring and partings help disguise it a little. I also take a hair, skin & nail vitamin which has helped a little bit.
