We've booked a trip to NYC in October half term and the balance is due. We want to do a lot if the tourist stuff, and I'm wondering if we should retain our booking or put it off to next year. WWYD?

Go!

I’ve been to NYC several times and I’m desperate to go back but I don’t think you’ll get the full experience in October. I know a lot can change by then but the hustle and bustle is part of its charm and I’d be worry about restrictions or things being closed. The first time we went the government had shut down and most of the landmarks were either closed or restricted and it was disappointing.

I’m hoping to go in April, so I’d wait until next year if I were in your shoes.

i was supposed to go to NYC in june but had to cancel, was considering October but since nothings booked im leaving it until the last minute til i see how things go
a lot of the tourist stuff may not be open, broadway shows arent runnung until the end of the year

maybe some posters who live there may give a better idea of what its like
if i had something booked and could move it id maybe do that

I don't think you will be able to go given that internal restrictions have now been added.

Hope you can go later and not be out of pocket.

Nope.

No definitely not, I’m from New York and have family still in the US. No way would I be going to visit them still year and I wouldn’t have them visit us either (I don’t think either will be possible anyway).

Beyond COVID, I personally wouldn’t want to be in America in the run up to the election either. I’d give it all a miss and try next year. October is a lovely time in New York though.
