Hi everyone I am a social work student and could do with your thoughts for a dissertation I am having to write and would really appreciate your imput. For those of you who have children between the ages of 10-18years, how do you feel social media is affecting your child's mental wellbeing? Do you feel social media has contributed towards them developing low self esteem, anxiety or depression, or maybe you think it has a positive impact. For e.g. maybe your child has experienced cyberbullying, maybe they regularly compare themselves to others online with the way they look, their abilities or social life, or maybe they are frequently having to check their phones for messages and posts and are consequently unable to switch off and relax. Or do you feel social media is a good thing which allows your child to make connections with others online including support networks, enables them to be creative (e.g you tube) and to learn about new things.

Please help me by putting forward your thoughts. I would really also appreciate your children's thoughts. Also if you have any forums that you think may be helpful for getting the opinions of young people that would be really helpful.

Many thanks guys!
