Cracked retainer help😬

My daughter had her braces removed 4 years ago and was provided a set of retainers to wear every night, the bottom retainers have developed a crack and the orthodontist is saying it’s £160 to replace just one retainer or £320 if she wants to replace both top and bottom. This sounds like an extortionate amount, does anyone have any other suggestions? I’ve seen online options but have no idea if this is any good. My daughter is now 19 so classed as an adult.

Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?

Is it just those clear ones? Think we were told £60 each if they needed replaced

Yes it’s the clear ones, £60 is reasonable was that for a child?

they are called wessix retainers I think. Might be able to buy online - think they send you stuff to take impressions with to make them

Essix, sorry

That's a lot! I got new ones November 2018 and paid £150 for a top and bottom set. Top ones broke and I woke up with that plastic in my mouth, yuk, the other week. It was the back tooth on one side, and the back tooth on the other side was cracked, so I cut that off! God knows what I'd been doing in my sleep!!
