School Holidays

I work term time and have a dd who is 13.

Normally by now I have a plan for the summer holidays and have lots of things booked. Due to the pandemic I currently have an empty diary. I don't drive currently so I rely on public transport, which I don't particularly want to use unless I have to. I am lucky that we live near a river, a wood and some open spaces.

I am wondering what plans you all have for a summer that is going to be different to what we are all used to.

A purchased a picnic basket on Saturday. It was in a charity shop £6!
This and a pile of books will be our summer.
I can't wait.

Beach, holiday hopefully at the end of August. Parks should be open on the 4th? It’s going to be a lot of time to fill but I’m going to start letting DD see her friends again.

Honestly? I don't know yet. DH has a couple of weeks off so we can drive a bit further afield for walks, bike rides etc. Once he's back at work, I don't know. We've no garden and I rely on being able to go to the local pool an meet up with friends!

At 13, won't she want to be making plans with friends? They may not be able to do a lot of the things they normally do, but my teenage DC are meeting their friends for walks/bike rides/picnics (and occasional forays in supermarkets).

Her best friend has close family in America so always goes there for the full holidays. So although they facetime everyday they aren't able to meet up.
