Potty training - WWYD

InfiniteGerbils · 29/06/2020 07:53

Quick one:

Our son is 2y8mo. He’s showing real signs of being ready for potty training; asking to pee and becoming more dry throughout the day when he’s in nappies.

Problem is we move house in ten days and advice is you shouldn’t train around the time of big changes. He returns to nursery as well on 27 July.

WWYD - follow his cues and start it regardless OR hold off and wait a few weeks?

I just worry there’s a window of opportunity I’m at risk of missing.

Advice from who? I'd do it anytime he wants to

If he seems ready take his lead but personally, I’d wait until after you move, if you can

However you might not be able to, my son took his napppy off independently and asked for the potty so we went with it.
He was dry in 2 days so was clearly 100% ready.

I would go for it. There's always stuff happening in life which might make it feel like an imperfect time to start....

We had decided we would start with my DD over the easter weekend when we had a stint of days at home but the week before, on the morning we were going to embark on a three hour journey to center parcs, she came downstairs insisting she was wearing knickers....so she did, and it was fine.

Follow his lead.

Yeah, to refer to a PP this morning he came downstairs with a soaked top and his bits and pieces kind of pointing up from where he’d obviously pulled his nappy down and up again.

It was actually a nursery newsletter that advises holding off until any big events are over but he’s obviously ready.

Can anyone give tips? He’s back in nursery now and I keep hearing myths that it can be nailed in 2 days.

I’ve been through this before with DD but I’m just not wanting to be seen to dump this on the nursery IYSWIM (pardon the pun)
