Do you still have a rainbow in your window?

We do but I'm a bit fed up not being able to see out properly! I notice most people's are still up. When will you take it down if not already? I'm nhs front line worker. I don't think any key workers are going to be offended that I am not appreciating them because I'm removing our rainbows. Not sure what but something stopping me doing it. Maybe superstitious that there will be another wave and lockdown as ridiculous as that sounds Grin

Took ours down yesterday when I cleaned the windows.

Rockbird · 28/06/2020 22:16

Still have ours up but I'd forgotten they were there. Might take them down tomorrow, also had enough of that whole start of lockdown vibe.

I have taken down the posters the kids made as they were fading and put them in their time capsule box. I’ve left the crocheted rainbow and NHS bear up for now.

Hotcuppatea · 28/06/2020 22:19

I'm very impressed with all this window cleaning. I honestly don't remember the last time I did mine.

LimeTreeGrove · 28/06/2020 22:19

I've got a small stained glass one hanging in front of the window that I got from Amazon. Will leave it up. No hand coloured ones as kids are teenagers

KitKat1985 · 28/06/2020 22:21

Ours fell off about 3 weeks ago and we decided not to put it back up again.

Sooobooored · 28/06/2020 22:21

I took mine down yesterday. Dc are back to school tomorrow so I’m going to throw/tidy away the home school stuff too.

@wanderings

I think they've been up more than long enough, especially if they say "stay home". That message is old news. And, very sadly, I see them as symbolic of children unable to see their friends, family, play in playgrounds, go to school, and do many other things.

"Sack Cummings" - brilliant. Perhaps I'll do a rainbow that says "Boris said twelve weeks". It's been fourteen and counting, and there's still no light at the end of the tunnel for many sectors. If lockdown is supposedly for the health of the nation, why are the pubs (paragons of public health and civility) opening on 4th July, and not the gyms and swimming pools?

Sorry, missed the point of the thread.

My favourite is/ was in a house along a track/ public footpath and said "Enjoy your walk" Smile

I hated "Stay Home" it was perfectly permisible to be out on my walk without unnecessary passive agressive shit on my daily outing and facing another 23 or so hours in my prison home.

BillyAndTheSillies · 28/06/2020 22:22

Our hand drawn rainbows faded so they came down yesterday.

Along with the brightly coloured tissue streamers we had taped to the inside of the windows, DH asked me if he could remove the "covid curtain" which made me laugh.

RoseMartha · 28/06/2020 22:39

No because they faded.

hatemyselfrightnow · 28/06/2020 22:58

I was thinking maybe on the 4th July when things stat to become a bit more normalised.

hatemyselfrightnow · 28/06/2020 23:00

My pet guinea pigs hav e their own NHS rainbow.... a wooden one from a pet shop. They liek to do their bit in suporting NHS lol Grin

tinkerbellvspredator · 28/06/2020 23:03

Took ours down last weekend. Was fed up of them. Agree with a PP that said it feels like their time is past.

Lockdownfatigue · 28/06/2020 23:07

Ours are painted on the windows. Still going strong. But where I live we’re still very much In lockdown, schools not open or non essential shops. Travel only within a five mile radius.

Quackersandcheese3 · 28/06/2020 23:10

I just took mine down today !

Nikki360 · 28/06/2020 23:52

Weird I was in my little girls room tonight before reading this and I said to her do you think we should take the rainbow down now? She said yes definitely. I think it's nice to look forward hopefully now.
