A woman on DP's FB apparently shared a post with the Confederate flag and a caption about heritage, then a bit later shared a post praising the Obamas. What goes on in the heads of such people?

Is she American? Quite possibly straight up ignorance if not (maybe even if so?). Not that I’m condoning ignorance.

She's British, I meant to include that in my original post.

Tbf, I’m not sure the majority of Brits would be aware of the former issue... It’s not widely discussed in mainstream media here and I don’t believe taught at primary or secondary.
