So many strange things happening in the world. I have a friend who has been telling me about how things are about to change massively in the world, he told me about the NWO and lots and lots of other theories, strange deaths and cover ups of huge crimes in Hollywood. I know this possibly sounds like I'm just having a confused ramble but I've been thinking about it for a few weeks and have read bits and pieces on the Internet. Anybody else feel a little unsettled at the moment. Just for the record my friend is a great guy, he wasn't trying to alarm me we just got talking and I found it all very confusing but I was intrigued.

It's pure nonsense, especially this "great awakening" stuff, there's been a "Great Awakening" apparently happening since the 60s.

It's really important to think about how you evaluate sources. Your friend will likely point you towards videos on youtube. So if that happens and you do watch them, think about how do you know what they're saying is true, what evidence is there, if they say there's evidence have a search yourself and see if it holds up. There will be conspiracy sites that back them up, but try looking outside of those to more reputable sources. Generally there's a grain of truth in there that they use to come to some far out conclusion.

Oh and the Qanon stuff is the most blatant bullshit yet, nothing Qanon has hinted at has come true. Challenge your friend to find something that has.

Lots of this stuff comes from christian evangelical right wing types, then filters down to the rest of us.

When this massive change doesn't happen after this, they will move on to the next big event as being the next portent of the great awakening, like they did after 9/11, 2008 financial crash and even the Mayan 2012 calendar stuff.

The real world is messed up enough, this stuff distracts hugely from the far more depressing controversies actually happening in the world.

The real world stuff is difficult to figure out and often doesn't have a solution acceptable for everyone. Can leave you feeling powerless so the escapism from this kind of thing must be a relief of sorts at first, but then once you go deeper it can really take over your life and become an obsession, which if it was all true that would be fair enough!

And as for conspiracies and Hollywood deaths, I'm sure in every government and dynastys' in every country there's deaths and cover ups. It's not really news is it

The change these people are talking about is Trump making mass arrests of paedophile celebrities while the military frees child slaves from underground cities around the world (this is already happening btw, any celebrity who catches Covid19 has actually just been arrested, the virus is a front for the arrests). While that's happening the "Light Workers" (or whatever they're calling themselves these days) will be having some kind of spiritual awakening where all the worthy/woke vibrate their energies on the same level and realise they're just aliens in a simulation and move off to another planet to start a perfect society of their own.

Or something like that...

He just seemed to explain things so convincingly! I didn't want to go down an Internet rabbit hole without checking in on the good sense of fellow mumsnetters.
