Question about YouTube

Do you have to pay to subscribe to a YouTube channel? There’s something I really want to watch but I need to subscribe to watch it.

Not usually but you usually don't have to subscribe to a channel to watch a video so I'm confused.

I'm subscribed to a few channels and don't pay anything but I watch loads that I'm not subscribed to.

It’s this:

No you only pay if you join their Patreon. Subscribing just means you will get their videos showing up under channels you subscribe to so you don't miss new videos.

Sorry just saw your second post. I think you have to follow the link, it's not actually on YouTube and not sure if it is a legitimate website. I don't normally go on that kind of site just in case.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 27/06/2020 21:36

Ok thanks. I was thinking it looked a bit dodgy.

That is just a playlists of videos that some one has put together. You don't need to subscribe you just press play on the first one and the next video in the list will play automatically

Comefromaway · 27/06/2020 21:41

During lockdown some theatres etc have been charging to watch recordings of theatre shows online. I’m not sure if any use YouTube but paying means they send you a link that you can watch if they’ve made the video private.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 27/06/2020 21:42

No it’s the one at the top. It’s a full length film.

Just clicked on the information icon and there’s a link to a website. Not sure I want to chance it,

OP posts:
Yourownpersonaljesus · 27/06/2020 22:14

The website is watchmoviez.xyz

OP posts:
Yourownpersonaljesus · 27/06/2020 22:15

Has anyone heard of it?

OP posts:
CodenameVillanelle · 27/06/2020 22:16

Youtube has links to some genuine sites like HBO where you need to pay to watch the movie, and also some fakes where they will try to get you to pay and you probably won't get to watch the movie. Pay attention to what you're signing up to!

CodenameVillanelle · 27/06/2020 22:16

That looks like a dodgy one. I really wouldn't chance it with my payment information.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 27/06/2020 22:20

I definitely wasn’t going to watch if I needed to pay anything. Oh well, looks like I won’t be watching it. I have the video (somewhere) and still have a video player just can’t be bothered to search for it - it could be anywhere.

You definitely do not need to pay to subscribe to the channel on YouTube. If you want you can just pay for the Premium account and that's it. There is the opposite thing. Channels owners also use such services and buy subscribers videosgrow.com/buy-500-cheap-youtube-subscribers/ to gather the bigger audience. Youtube algorithm blog.hootsuite.com/how-the-youtube-algorithm-works/ takes the number of subscribers into account so bloggers are interested to have them a lot. Subscribers, in turn, are probably the most important backbone for anyone who wants to become permanently successful on the site. Most newcomers hardly succeed in gaining more than a handful of subscribers per week, despite regular uploads. Therefore, it's a metric that can be used wisely in YouTube marketing to strengthen your presence on the site and stay one step ahead of the competition.

Aquamarine1029 · 03/06/2021 15:32

I would not go to that linked site. Looks dodgy af.
