Converting older kids clothes sizes to adult clothes sizes

Hiya, wondering if anyone can help me here please :-)

My nearly 11 year old is rather tall for her age and slender, and currently wears age 13/14 or 14/15 clothes, she has very long legs, is just over 5" and is starting to get a bit of a shape. I'm shopping for her upcoming birthday and I'm starting to think that adult sizes would maybe fit a bit better.

So, what size would you go for? And should I maybe opt for petite fit? Thanks to anyone who can help me!

Sorry, should have said I'm shopping online as I'm in Scotland and I won't get a chance to get to the shops between them reopening and her birthday

My v tall 11 year old is about a size 8. I'm 5'6" and she's just about at my hairline, so I reckon an out 5'4". I'm finding it more difficult to convert my 5'7" ds's clothes sizes!

My 5'4" 11 yr old dd wears 13-14 or 6-8 adult.

Thank you! I was swithering between sizes 6 and 8, unfortunately I do not have anything for her to try for comparison as a am a solid size 14. Think I might go for an 8, she can always grow into them haha.

I always err on the side of 'they'll grow into it!' there's no stopping them at the moment!

You could cross reference the waist/hips measurements of her kids sized clothes with the adult size for the brand you're looking at.

E.g. M&S Girls age 14/15 is a 26-28 inch waist. That would be a 8 or 10 depending on what end of the spectrum for that size she lands on. You'd have to look at petite to start with too for her height.

Next age 15-16 is an adult 12.

My daughter is 11, slim and 5 ft 3inches. She’s in an M&s 14-15, Boden 11-12 or 13-14. She wears adult size 6 or 8 in H&M and Sainsbury’s TU.

Vaunting · 27/06/2020 19:52

Oh, I rate ZAra Kids clothes for this age range. The largest size, age 13-14, should fit her leg wise and they have elastic waists. We’ve just bought loads of cool jeans for DD from there at a reasonable price.

I wear M&S and Gap age 13 jeans but I am a size 6 in normal adult clothes. I am an inch taller than your dd.

My 11 yr old daughter is 5ft 6 and fits an adult size 6-8.

Alot of websites will have a measure guide I think.

MissMatchedClaws · 27/06/2020 20:46

11 year old, 5’3”, very slim, clear waist/hip difference. Adult size 6 in H&M or Primark. Age 14+ in kids stuff.
