Just a quick one for any one who is interested. In the name of research, I went to Merry Hill today. The bookshop did not have the book I wanted. The computer shop did not have the computer I wanted.

But at least they have had the sense to retain single sex loos.

Well if the news is correct , then Intu Lakeside won't have anything because there are rumblings about it closing !

I seriously doubt this will happen. Lakeside is in a prime site , pre-Covid was always busy .
Possibly the retail park will suffer but not the actual shopping centre .

I havent been there since LockDown.
Went to Buewater but didn't use the loos , single sex or otherwise .

Research needs expansion I reckon.

What, other sites or other things? I can only visit where my bus pass takes me to.

Sparklingbrook · 27/06/2020 15:32

I am so old I remember the Merry Hill monorail.

FlibbertyGiblets · 27/06/2020 15:46

Jolly good to hear single sex loos remain at Merry Hill, thank you Dico.

I remember IKEA Birmingham opening, Sparklers

Dicotyledon

next week I will take one for the team and venture to Lakeside , Thurrock (InTu site)

It's been open since Oct 1990 so I cannot believe it won't ride this storm out !

worcestersauce29 · 27/06/2020 18:31

me too 'Sparklingbrook' to be honest that's probably the last time I was there!. I hate out of town shopping centres!

I’m heading to Intu Lakeside tomorrow. They’ve gone in to administration but aren’t shutting yet!
They’ve done loads of building around there with housing and retail parks, I think it will stay.

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 27/06/2020 19:32

I'm sure someone will save it soon enough.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/06/2020 18:12

LtJudy did you manage to get to Lakeside?
How was in?

DH and I went to Costco about a month ago, the queue was 30 minutes to get in but well organised . I don't need another Costo shop right now (and I wouldn't take DD she's a nightmare in Costco !)

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/06/2020 18:15

Intu Braehead, Glasgow is in trouble too apparently.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/07/2020 00:04

DD and I went to Lakeside today .
Loads of the shops weren't open , but we didn't stay long anyway .

It wasn't busy , though there was a queue in Primark and it was where I wanted to browse .
As most people weren't masked I didn't want to linger .

Didn't eat or drink , I don't know if the toilets were open so didn't want to risk it ,.

I don't see myself rushing back anytime soon.
