Does anyone know why a lab would advise that a Covid antibody test needs repeating please?

I would think the blood cells were destroyed and also destroyed any antibodies.
There is a technical name for this but the current heatwave has made my brain not work very well.

I don’t think there is any sinister reason, so don’t worry

Heamolysed. That is what you call it when the blood cells are destroyed and the blood test needs to be repeated

PatMullins · 26/06/2020 17:56

There are lots of reasons, it won’t be specific to it being a COVID test.

Dropped the sample?
Or haemolysed.

My blood test once got dropped so had to be repeated.

@chomalungma

Dropped the sample? Or haemolysed.
Probably this it’s a common problem
tubbylittletwat · 26/06/2020 19:27

Mine was rejected by the lab (incomplete label) so will need to be repeated.

Tests can be rejected due to the wrong bottle being used, if the label is illegible, if it has the wrong details on, if the blood has clotted, or if it’s been dropped.

Lalalamps · 26/06/2020 20:25

It’s taken in a clotted blood tube (gold top)
