How to clean a nervous cat?

So - i have a beautiful cat - Spike. He has something wrong with his mouth, either nothing (according to the first vet) or a possible ulcer (according to the send vet)

He is a very flighty, nervous cat. But he is stinky, and i know he is not happy, he's pulling fur out in handfuls, and has bald patches all over.

I have been using wipes, brushing, damp towel, but he's not getting any cleaner. He just cant do it. He's trying, but its not just happening.

What can i do?

Where is the ulcer? I can’t tell from the posts, is it in his mouth? They’ll need to knock him out and sort it won’t they?

My poor dog was suffering and had to have 2 teeth out under GA

Looks like an indolent ulcer, they used to call them rodent ulcers. Usually caused by allergies, a hypoallergenic diet and using steroids/antihistamines as advised by vet might help?

The ulcer is in the mouth, 2nd vet said there might be something underneath, possibly a tumour....

He had an antibiotic injection (that lasts 2 weeks) and that was 3 weeks ago.

We are not hopeful, and expect to come back with an empty cat basket Sad

Poor Spike. Poor you. Whatever happens you'll know you did your best for him. Hope you get better news than you're expecting at the vet's Flowers

so we have been to the vet, his tongue and mouth had hardened, the vet needed to use a tool to move it, he said it was either cancer or a long shot could be a fungal infection - but that would need a biopsy and more stress for him.

We decided to put him to sleep as he was not happy and prognosis was not good - we were with him when he went

Sleep well my friend

Glad we went today and didn't wait till Monday as I have this last week off and wouldn't have been able to greive properly

Horrible putting down 1 cat food bowl, instead of 2
