Buying a travel system

Hi all,

I'm looking for a travel system for my first born. I was wondering, do we need a parent facing pram in the initial months? I'm not sure if I should invest in a carry cot or not. There are push chairs that can be inclined to become flat so that is not an issue. I'm just not sure if babies need to face their parents in initial months or will a front facing push chair be enough? Any ideas?

I would say parent facing is a must, DD has always hated front facing and has always wanted to look at us even now at 11 months.

Carry cot we used until she was 6 months or so but to be honest unless you are going a lot of walks I don’t know if I would bother. DD hated being fully flat and unable to see but every baby is different! It also takes up a bit of space.

We used a sling when she was really little.

A lot of it is personal preference and does depend on lifestyle - not everyone uses pushchairs that much (I used a front carrier more) if you use the car mostly that's a factor, it needs to fit in the boot. I used a reclining double buggy from 2 months old, forward facing, couldn't afford a double pushchair and back then you had to fold on the bus so size mattered

Ps dd1 (who used the full pushchair much more) liked to be forward facing

Depends on you, how you feel, your lifestyle etc.

Personally I like parent facing until they are 2 ish because you can see/ speak to them as you're walking.

Depends on how you plan to use it. We didn't opt for a travel system as I never took DC in the car as DH used it for work. I had a carry cot that fitted on the seat and mine could be front or parent facing as the seat detached. I would say parent facing is essential for the first few months.
