Scan appointment

DH has been referred urgently and has just heard he has an appointment at 7:30 tomorrow (Saturday) morning. All a bit scary.

What's causing him most trauma is the expectation around masks. He can take a buff but we don't have anything that looks like a proper mask. Will that be OK?

Can you pop out and buy a packet. They're on sale all over.

gamerchick · 26/06/2020 15:14

I don't know what a buff is. Hope the scan goes well.

LIZS · 26/06/2020 15:17

A buff is a type of scarf. he would probably become very hot in one. Most chemists would sell a pack of disposable masks or he may be handed one on arrival. What do the instructions say?

I had an appt at the hospital this week and another patient arrived without a mask and the receptionist just gave her one.

This policy may vary based on location though.

Good luck

Miiaaoow · 26/06/2020 15:26

I had an appointment last week and there was someone with a table near the entrance to the hospital giving people masks and asking people to use the hand sanitiser.

I would take something (a scarf?) just incase there's no-one handing them out, but i'm sure he'll be given one.

Best of luck for the scan.

When I say near the entrance, I mean inside btw.

squirrelnutkins1 · 26/06/2020 15:28

Most hospitals are providing masks to people who haven't brought them at a lot of the entrances.

Dollywilde · 26/06/2020 15:28

Yup, I was at an outpatient appt last week in maternity, took my own mask but there was someone handing out disposables just inside the entrance to the hospital for anyone who hadn’t brought one. Hope all is ok for your DH Flowers

LolaColaMola · 26/06/2020 16:17

Also had a hospital appointment last week and they were providing masks and hand sanitiser at all entrances

UltimateWednesday · 28/06/2020 08:35

Well he went and no one was wearing masks, not the staff or the patients. Large, highly respected teaching hospital and to their flagship state of the art new facility Shock

Fingers cross for the results.

Oh wow @UltimateWednesday that really surprises me! How strange.

Hope you don’t have too long to wait and that you get the result you want.
