What can you tell me about living in Edinburgh?

Locals/schools/activities for children etc.

Posted in Scotsnet this morning but had no reply.

Thank you

Edinburgh is a lovely city but like all cities it has some very nice areas and some really grim areas. Do you have any idea of what area you were thinking of? I don't live in Edinburgh but live relatively near. it has great shops, restaurants, parks, things for kids to do etc so on that level you would be fine. It is an expensive city so you may be bound by what you can afford. Many people live outside Edinburgh in smaller towns and villages and commute in

It’s a small city. Easy to get around (apart from August during the festival) as great public transport. Good things for children and plenty of good museums. Very expensive for the better areas and from those areas people tend to send their children to private schools.

Lived there for 7 years - it’s beautiful, fantastic cultural scene, compact to get around. It is too cold for me to live there long term. I also found the people quite snobby and interested in knowing what school you went to/where your children go (1 in 4 children attend private school in Edinburgh I believe).

We live under the tyrannical rule of Nasty Nicola. Unless you want to be ruled by her, don't come. I would love to renounce my Scottish citizenship and become English instead. Can we swap?
