Two women stabbed to death but it hasn’t been in the news??

Just reading the guardian article about Met police officers being investigated
For taking inappropriate photos of the crime scene. That in itself is sickening.

Then I was thinking I haven’t seen this case in the news. Surely it’s newsworthy. Two sisters stabbed to death by a stranger.

Or have I just missed it?

Yes it was in the news.

Persephonecall · 25/06/2020 17:48

On the BBC as well as in the press.

Bouledeneige · 25/06/2020 17:49

Yes I saw it in the news on the BBC

TerrapinStation · 25/06/2020 17:53

Of course it's been reported, you may not have seen it but it was on the TV news and in the papers bationally. In fact I've seen a lot more about this than the Reading incident and I've been wondering why that is low key compared to similar incidents in London for example

GertiMJN · 25/06/2020 17:53

I dont know anything about the inappropriate photographs but have seen coverage of the murders over a number of days in various places including bbc

Xenia · 25/06/2020 17:56

The original murders of the two were all over the news.

scrivette · 25/06/2020 17:58

They were on the news but not for very long and didn't seem to be reported on very much.

MrsNoah2020 · 25/06/2020 18:01

There was some news coverage, but much less than I would normally expect for 2 young women stabbed by a stranger. I wonder what it could be about them that made the tabloids think this story's not important? 🧐

Cherrytangfastic · 25/06/2020 18:05

Because they're far more likely to run an anti-police story than anything else. Huge numbers of stabbings/murders occur but don't make the papers. Unfortunately in this case I'd assume it has reached the news on some level due to the investigation into the officers who attended. Far more likely to get clicks for anti-police articles than murders which are being investigated well.

Sorry- rant alert. It is sad how many horiffic incidents are ignored by large media organisations and only feature as a one-liner on local news pages Sad

I think the stories that are run by large organizations are those likely to be the most click-bait worthy and money making. Everything else gets ignored

Bunnybigears · 25/06/2020 18:11

There arent really any slow news days at the moment so stories that would normally get quite a lot of coverage arent getting as much. Also sometimes if a murder goes relatively under reported it can be due tot he police releasing very little information and asking the press to keep certain things unreported for operational reasons. BUT it was in the news.

Sharpandshineyteeth · 25/06/2020 18:25

Oh ok then. Maybe I was on a news hiatus then.

Those poor women

BillysMyBunny · 25/06/2020 18:34

It was in the news but only briefly. I think that has been the case with a lot of the tragedies that have occurred over the last few months - coronavirus is constantly at the top of the headlines and other stories are quickly moved on from where normally they might have a lot more focus.

Tianalia · 25/06/2020 18:36

Is this the social worker and her sister? I saw that, although it didn't stay in the news long.

SerenityNowwwww · 25/06/2020 18:40

It’s been in the news since it happened. They haven’t got a suspect though yet have they?

Worried234 · 25/06/2020 19:03

It was all over the news.

SerenityNowwwww · 25/06/2020 19:06

It’s on the news now

runwithme · 25/06/2020 19:51

I honestly didnt see anything until this post and had to google it.

Maybe that's true in some cases but this was reported the day they were found, nothing at all to do with how the police behaved. I hadn't actually seen that until this thread but the story itself I read about probably over at least a week when new information came out. The DM who it's cool to hate on here have run multiple online articles.
