Job Interview on Teams

Hi, got an interview on Wednesday and it is going to be done on Teams. GlHas anyone else had experience of this? How did it go? I only used Teams for about 3 weeks at the beginning of lockdown and have been furloughed since, so a bit anxious about the format.

I hate video calls as it is as all I can see is my big potato face wobbling around- so distracting! Any tips?? Thanks!

Yes! I had a panel interview on Teams last week.
Before the interview, check your camera's field of vision. I set up a side table so I had my back to a plain wall with a bit of a picture showing. I made sure the only background objects showing were books - moved a few bits around.
I sellotaped a big smiley face around the camera lens (leaving it clear obvs!) to remind me to look into the camera and smile - surprisingly hard to do! You have to at least show you are trying to replicate 'good eye contact'!
I wore plain colours on my top half as patterns can pixelate.
You need to wait until the question is fully finished before speaking or they will miss the first few words of what you say, can feel like awkward pauses but they will appreciate it.

Other than that, and not getting a feel for body language during the interview, it was v similar to a real interview.
Good luck!

Ah thanks, that's really good advice. I shall have to change my idea for an outfit now! Did you wear heels etc to get into the feel of it?
I'm anxious as my brain has turned to mush over these last few months. Am trying to get back into the zone but am worried I've forgotten how to cope in a professional environment Blush

God no! But I never do anyway. I wore shorts and then a smart top and blazer!!
I think being in a room by myself with no distractions helped. Plus the usual prep of STAR answers for competency questions.

I was part of a panel holding interviews on teams a few weeks ago. I agree with the advice of looking into the camera, making sure your surrounding isn't distracting and waiting till you're sure the other person is done speaking.
Other than that treat it like a regular interview.

You can get fake backgrounds on Teams, so you don't have to worry too much about tidying up.
