How do I avoid being ‘the stalker’

Lighthearted thread, I’m embarrassed that my neighbour probably thinks I am stalking her as we constantly end up seeing each other
Yesterday I was cleaning the windows and found a huge spider, I was staring at it in a panic calling for dp and realised after 5 minutes my neighbour was looking at me through her window with her dp and I totally looked like I was staring down into her house as she wouldn’t have seen the spider Blush they firmly closed their blinds to make their point known
I was waiting for a delivery too so occasionally had a peak out the window (to put dogs in the garden before they knocked) said neighbour was going to her car and saw me looking out and when I did get the delivery she pulled up in her car and it probably looked like I was waiting for her to come home
Today I heard some loud voices outside (and being a bored cow I had a nosey for the drama) but it was her visitors talking to her at the door and they somehow noticed me and all looked over
Dp took DS on his bike out the front for a while and the neighbours dp came to his door to smoke, they both came inside at the same time like they’d been sent out to spy on each other to my amusement
I just went to my wheelie bin at the exact same time as her, she looked horrified at seeing me again and I was too ashamed to say hello despite not even knowing her name or ever having spoken to her before
Why does this keep happening? Should I just move country? Help!

Made me smile.

Try a friendly hello, op. Don't be embarrassed, get to know them. Introduce yourself, tell them what you thought, "Im so sorry, I thought I'd Introduce myself, as we keep seeming to see each other through this lockdown! Thought it was finally better to say hello incase you've mistaken me for invading your privacy/being a crazy stalker.... cheerio neighbour ps. What colour is your underwear?

Grin

Honestly, we knew our neighbours, but since all this lockdown stuff, we've really got to know them, and introduce ourselves, and its been lovely.

Haha I've had quite a few of these (not exactly the same incidents) in my life. Frustrating. It's the sort of situation where you wish you could explain all these to her so she knows it's not what she thinks, on the other hand if you dared to do so, she'll likely think "Who asked you? You must be guilty if you desperately want to explain yourself".

So it's either ignore and look like a stalker or explain and run the risk of coming across really odd while digging yourself into a deeper hole. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Sorry OP, I haven't found the answer to these issues yet.

Grin I definitely think if I approached her she’d think I wanted access to her house or something I’d be concerned the month would end with me having a restraining order

Lol! This happens to me in the supermarket. Go to get a trolley and reach for the same one as random stranger. Make eye contact again in the fruit and veg section. Bump into each other at the bakery. Turn into an aisle and come face to face, and so on! The more you try to avoid it the more it happens!

genuinely giggling at this thread!

Im still saying introduce yourself, restraining order and all, own it op Grin

Laughing at the supermarket story I’m surprised this hasn’t happened to me yet

We had a power cut 10 mins after my last post so I peaked outside to see if anyone else was effected by it and yes she was also doing the same and we made awkward eye contact Grin

Same Grin to the point I actively avoid the person. Haha

I’m considering becoming a recluse and keeping my windows and curtains shut indefinitely Grin I bet she’s googling cctv and panic alarms right now
