Booking a UK holiday cottage - where?

Will we be able to do usual holiday things - crazy golf, botanic gardens, stately homes, amusements - or will there be queues and distancing?

Would you book a cottage in the middle of nowhere - walks etc - or one in a town with people and shops around? So hard to decide what to do.

Plus, not many cottages seem to be left so every other bugger has got there before us! What are you doing for a holiday?

(What I really want is a beach cottage with sea views in a pretty village or by itself, or a house with big patio windows and views - fields, mountains, river, lake, I don’t mind. 3+ bedrooms. Any recommendations?)

Advice?

I think you will be safer with easily accessible beaches (not via steps!) and country walks.
We are going to Dorset but researching beaches that are not rammed.
You can book train/tram/theme park but DH says he doesn't fancy some of the potentially more crowded places.

Think you’re right, dammit.

Dd (16) will not be impressed. Lots of her friends are not social distancing and are acting as if everything is normal 🙄 doesn’t help.
