Mr Johnson looks so ill.

I abandoned the briefings early on but I was shocked to see him tonight. He looks ill and the strange manic grin makes it worse.

Really, without becoming offensive, can anybody tell me what he has done well?

catsingangs · 24/06/2020 12:59

I think he is doing a great job
This must be satire right ?
Just look at the UK fatalities compared to the rest of the world, and you call that a great job ?
But I guess by your comment on the EU, you must be a Brexit headbanger.
If Johnson does Brexit as well as he has done covid, the country is fucked.
But enjoy your blue passport (printed in Poland) Grin

According to my brother he "got Brexit done like he promised and is getting us through lockdown" He won't expand on that as "theres no point. You won't believe me anyway" Hmm
GimmeAy · 24/06/2020 13:11

Well he hasn't got Brexit done though has he - we still haven't exited afaik?

GimmeAy · 24/06/2020 13:13

Nothing has actually changed yet in terms of Brexit apart from the fact that the UK can't join the EU conferences and such. But the UK hasn't exactly exited - it still has a foot in the door of the EU in a way.

wowfudge · 24/06/2020 13:25

All Boris has done is fool sufficient people into voting for him. The fact the Cummings kept his job shows how reliant Boris is on him.

wowfudge · 24/06/2020 13:30

Gimme Brexit has happened. It happened on 31 December. We are now in the transition phase during which the same reciprocal rights as when we were a member remain until the end of this year.

The UK has very little power in the negotiations with the EU despite the pup Boris and co sold the electorate before the referendum.

GimmeAy · 24/06/2020 13:32

That's what I mean - so nothing has changed. So it's hard to tell how well he 'got Brexit done'.

Katharinablum · 24/06/2020 13:43

@GetOffYourHighHorse come on you're being a bit disingenuous !
The guy is the PM. Of course he would have received preferential treatment - just like the royal family ! It wouldn't be a good advert for the NHS if he'd been admitted in extremis so I suspect he was treated a little more proactively than ordinary joe.

randomer · 24/06/2020 13:43

I wonder what Dom has got on him?

@randomer

I wonder what Dom has got on him?
Precisely the question I and my 80+ father have been asking ourselves.

We reckon it must be financial (cos let's face it, being a complete sexual libertine doesn't seem to have damaged him.)

randomer · 24/06/2020 13:57

mmm, sex will be involved I fear. Not just money, their sort to give a stuff about that. Something bad.

Could be anything ....links to the underworld?

yellowhammers · 24/06/2020 14:04

Boris was in intensive care. Are you saying that our NHS critical care staff would admit him and put him on oxygen if he was not ill? Really?
Whatever you think of his relationship with his other children you cannot deny that he is a new father.
Personally I don't care about his relationship with these children, I care about how well I think he his at running the country.
As far as I am concerned he got us out of the EU as promised. He is not going to extend the transition period. He promised not to.
He is going ahead with HS2 which I agree with.
He has a large majority so clearly people agree with his policies.
And he has a very positive attitude which I like.

yellowhammers · 24/06/2020 14:07

Gimme, I am sorry if you think we are still in the EU. We have legally left the EU. The transition is to sort out our future relationship.
A lot has changed. We are now a third country.

It was in response to a pp saying 'He was hospitalised probably because he was PM. Joe Soap or Billy Bubbles would have been told to manage their symptoms at home I suspect.'

I really do doubt he was hospitalised because he was PM, or transferred to critical care because he was PM. Ime NHS consultants treat every the exactly the same. He'd actually been unwell at home for over a week, as we know that can be when patients with Covid can deteriorate.

GimmeAy · 24/06/2020 14:10

I've been on oxygen in an ordinary ward! Several times.

yellowhammers · 24/06/2020 14:10

I notice nobody is complaining about Corbyn breaking lockdown on two separate occasions.
People are going for Dominic Cummings because he masterminded the Leave campaign.
He deserves a knighthood as far as I am concerned

And on the Corona Virus? Bit of a fuck up, responsible for thousands of deaths but you know at least we'll be out of the EU so that's ok then?
GimmeAy · 24/06/2020 14:13

In fact, if you've ever been on an 'ordinary' medical ward, most old ladies are on oxygen. Some of them/me have been on nebulisers too (I know because I had one particularly grumpy lady beside me complaining 'what's that noise?' whenever my nebuliser or other patient's nebulisers were turned on). She was a charming lady - not. Nasty woman. She knew exactly what it was - she was not old.

ilovesooty · 24/06/2020 14:21

@SpringFan

The look in his eyes is just sheer panic. He is completely out of his depth. He got the prize he wanted- being PM- but he can't hack it. Wish he had enough insight to resign. But there is no one vaguely competent to take over. The few brains in the Conservatives were ousted before the election.
Absolutely. I've been told (admittedly about 4th hand) that he wants to give up being Prime Minister for health reasons but Cummings has told him that he can't as there is no viable replacement currently in the party.
GimmeAy · 24/06/2020 14:24

I am not a good patient so I used to take it out all the time (it's silent). Before I was put into the coma, I recall my bp being 60/40 and my oxygen being low. All I wanted was to go home. Last thing I remember before I woke up 2 weeks later was a nurse saying 'we're just giving you something to relax you'. I know there was a lot of fuss about me and discussions about putting lines in my neck etc. and arguments among doctors. They had put me on some sort of pressured drip and it took about 5 doctors/nurses/paramedics/anaesthetists/surgeons to get a second line into me - second surgeon managed to get a line in. They were talking feet/groin/neck and I was saying NO WAY - I'M FINE NOW - I WANT TO GO HOME. What they gave me to relax me put me to sleep for 2 weeks lol. I was in Resus at the time. They had given me something to raise bp but it wasn't rising I think - hence the intervention. It's strange when I think back, because I wasn't told anything only to stay in bed and in fairness I couldn't get out of the bed but I was very distressed.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 24/06/2020 14:26

'mmm, sex will be involved I fear. Not just money, their sort to give a stuff about that. Something bad.'

Jesus. 'something bad' Confused.

'been on oxygen in an ordinary ward! Several times.'
Good for you, so have many people. The difference with Covid is after a week or so people can develop breathing difficulties requiring ventilation as you know, so invasive montoring to keep a close eye on oxygen and PH needs doing and a critical care area is the place to do it.

Devlesko · 24/06/2020 14:26

Boris was in intensive care

Convenient, that. Anyone know the actress, nurse who was on the news?

GimmeAy · 24/06/2020 14:28

Not ICU though ordinarily Get off your high horse.
