Specifically greige coloured. Not too grey, not too beige...

Open to all types - wool/polypropylene/twist/loop etc as long as it's good quality, hardwearing, hoovers well and stays looking nice.

I'm so bored looked at them in shops and would love to hear from people that cave actually recommend a carpet from living with it rather than sales people. TIA

I'm in the middle of trying to find flooring for my whole place. It's mind boggling.

First it depends what kind of look you have. I have a pretty minimalist, Nordic style interior. So I went for natural fibres, in a low pile (5mm). For my stairs I have Cormar Malabar Two Fold which is 100% wool. I have it in grey but they have a whole range of colours. It's moth proof.

I don't have pets and this is berber style which isn't recommended for pets. It's very heavy duty so suitable for stairs.

Considerations are: do you have pets or children? Very high piles will be difficult to keep clean for pet hair. Berber style is not recommended for pets as they can catch their claws on it.

The back of the carpet is important for longevity. You want a hessian back, not felt.

If you have children go for a carpet which is bleach cleanable.

You want the best underlay you can afford.

You can afford to have a more luxurious carpet in the bedrooms. A higher pile and not necessarily bleach cleanable. Again any carpet is going to last longer and feel softer underfoot with a good underlay.

Thanks @1235kbm . I do have children, not pets at the moment but will possibly in the future. Although the carpets are all for upstairs as downstairs is all hard floor and could potentially prevent a dog from going upstairs.

Interesting to hear the cormar wool is moth proof!

I had a moth infestation which destroyed a wool sofa, several wool rugs and a very nice cardigan. I therefore, wouldn't get a wool carpet if it wasn't moth proof.

I wanted something flecked so it wouldn't show the dirt and I didn't want anything which would look 'messy' very quickly when you trod on it. Therefore, I didn't want a high pile carpet. It also fits my interior. I'm having the same carpet in my bedroom and will have a big fluffy rug by the bed. I have had a sample of the carpet and it's surprisingly springy given that it's such low pile. I'm get an 11mm underlay for it.

Hello
I hope you don’t mind me jumping on this with a carpet question! We have just had Malabar Two Fold fitted in our stairs, landing and bedrooms. The fitter said in passing we would need a Hoover without a beater bar which means nothing to me! Just wondering what Hoover you use on it? And any particular cleaning products?
Sorry for the terribly boring request but any advice gratefully received.

Thanks!
