What does your 2.5 yr old play with?

Having spent a lot more time playing in the house than usual over the last three months, I have come to the conclusion that a lot of our DSs toys are too young for him now.

What does your 2.5 / 3 yr old like to play with? Things that seem successful so far are:

  • toy kitchen
  • doctors kit
  • toy microscope
  • painting
  • duplo
  • jigsaws (just getting the hang of these)

Any other suggestions?

My DS really like to play with blocks cars and likes to colour

Mine is into dinosaurs, animals and trains. I've also just ordered some things from mess around that he enjoys so water beads, playdough, coloured rice etc.

Playmobil 123 is a hit in our house

Mine likes happy land and seems to have collected more animal figures than I knew existed so she likes to play zoo too!

Colouring/sticking/painting
Play dough
Tea party
Knights/superheroes/power rangers/ninjas which seems to just be shouting and karate chopping the air a lot
Hide and seek
Football/throw and catch
Anything to do with dressing up, absolutely loves dressing up.
'It' & hide and seek.

Toys wise we could get rid of almost everything right now and replace it with a climbing frame & some dressing up outfits

Dinosaurs, train set, cars, construction vehicles and crane, a farm and sensory bins. Outside free spends hours on his balance bike.

Thank you for all the suggestions!

I think being the PFB means he's been given a lot of beautiful, hand painted, wooden toys.... that he now has bugger all interest in! And we haven't really moved on enough. Will definitely look for some new bits now.

We've also suffered a bit from lack of suitable garden space during lockdown. Due to move in a month or so, and the new house will have a lovely garden (with actual grass!) and space for garden toys and a bike etc. So that will be hugely beneficial too.

Thanks again!
