Thinking of relocating to St Albans from South East London. Grew up in North London so it will be return back that way. We are looking for a good commuter place to London bridge. Wanting advice from people on what it's like? Community feel?ease of making friends? Any information on schools (they look good) my son is 3years old now so due to start primary in September. In essence we want somewhere nice to raise him, but with lots to do as he grows up and safe. Thank you

St Albans is lovely, and there aren't really any bad areas. It would also be worth looking at London Colney, which is just outside of St Albans. You have a choice of primary schools (although it will depend on catchment areas which you get into), and are a 20 min bike ride/10 min car journey from the station. Your nearest secondary school would be Samuel Ryder Academy, which is rated Good (and outstanding in some areas). There is also a lovely park with a small paddling pool for dc there, and you are near a retail park with the likes of Sainsburys and Next. The house prices are cheaper than that of St Albans too
