NCd just in case this gets back to my real name via FB. Had an advert from this company on my FB timeline today. I have visited their site before so see their adverts occasionally.

This one caught my eye because it used a picture of a cot with bumpers all the way round. I commented on it to point out how dangerous these are. When I was trying to find that advert later to see if anyone had responded I saw another one so commented on that too.

A few hours later I checked again and my comments have been removed and I've been blocked from their page! Checked from DH's account and he could still comment or react to their posts so it is definitely me.

I wasnt really expecting them to suddenly remove all their bumpers in their advertising but I was a bit surprised just to be blocked. I don't know why really, I know companies all over are unscrupulous and unprofessional but I did expect a tiny bit of debate at least. I think I'm really naive!

I think blocking and banning is the way a lot of companies deal with (what they consider to be) negative comments on social media now. Anyone who's not singing their praises is a "troll".
Sometimes it's just laziness on the part of the person managing the account as it's so easy to just click "delete" or whatever rather than constructing a decent reply.

I do understand it to a point as it's not always worth their time/effort engaging with people who aren't even their customers. But likewise it's nice to see when businesses are "human" and show they can deal with feedback, criticisms, questions etc.

I got blocked by a business on instagram a few months ago for asking them to credit a photograph of mine they'd used without permission
