Hi, we have managed to get a coveted booked slot at a beach for tomorrow and plan to go early and spend the whole day there. We will be taking a (lot of) picnic food and beach games as don't want to go into any local cafe/restaurant/supermarket! There will 2 adults, 2 kids (8 and 10) and a dog.

What are your best tips for a long day at the beach? What is the one item we shouldn't forget???

Wet suits

If it’s West Wittering then dogs can only go on East Head beach.
Lavatories are open.
Children should play happily and water that side is very safe and shallow.
Do you have shelter of any sort?
Napkins or forks to hold food in so that you aren’t eating sand in your sandwiches.
A flask for tea.
It’s a good walk from the East Head beach to the nearest lavatory block.
It’s likely to be queueing from the near the A27 to the beach this week. Go outside of peat travel times. Leave ahead or after crowds. Take a disposable barbecue and some sausages to delay leaving with the main crowds.

I live right near a lovely beach, we spend loads of time at the beach! I'm shocked to hear people shit in the sea or bury poo in the sand! Disgusting!!!

Take your shit home with you in a poop bag if you really can't hold it in! Grimbos

How was the beach op?

Chilver · 23/06/2020 23:32

It was marvellous @BeKindOrBeQuiet!!! We truly felt refreshed today having had yesterday in a different location, and one so beautiful. The kids had a ball, as did the dog! Thanks for all the tips everyone!
