Neighbour noise

My next door neighbours have people over in the garden and are becoming increasingly drunk and noisy. I’ve got all my windows shut and earplugs in and it’s still keeping me awake.

It’s got me thinking. What time would you make sure you kept the noise down out of respect for your neighbours? Personally, I wouldn’t feel comfortable making huge amounts of noise much after 10pm.

Is there any accepted social norm?

I'd say 11. But if it's a one off it wouldn't bother me if it went on later. Every weekend is a different story.

It isn’t bothering me. I’m pleased the couple who live there have some company, as I know they’ve been lonely.

I’m just musing really as I can’t get to sleep! 🙂

Mine are out there from mid afternoon until 1am every weekend. With friends and their kids. Groups of about 20.

Oh and I genuinely wish them serious harm because they are absolute dicks.

I hate people like this! I think after 10pm they should move inside (or go home)

Every weekend here. He's out now holding court in his deckchair, fire roaring away music bouncing. Got to the point I've had to move the back bedroom into the front so when DH sleeps in there (snorer) he can have a window open and not have to listen to the noise and smell the fire. He has an entire garden to go at but chooses the fence line by our back.

Genuinely considering a row of conifers. Least I'm fortunate enough to be able to move rooms away from it though.
