Calling fans of Logan Macrae (the Stuart McBride books)

There will be spoilers here.

I really like these books, and have read or listened to them all (love the narrator’s voice on Audible).

But there are two themes i have either totally missed or have long forgotten; as I said, spoilers now.

How did Logan get talked into being the sperm donor for Roberta and Susan’s kids?

And how did he get to be the beneficiary of Gangster Hamish Mowatt’s fortune and heir apparent to his firm?

Beneficiary of Hamish because H kept sending him bits to do - like arresting people for fake currency etc, which helped H maintain his hold of the local area. Nothing illegal and all bits that were part of L’s normal policing job, but they ultimately helped Hamish.
In the beginning L passed Rennie’s sperm off as his own because Steel just kept asking and asking and asking. I guess in the end he agreed, but it’s something I missed too, I think.
