Making your own pasta

Is it worth it?

I keep being tempted by pasta makers and kits to get started but every time I mention it to friends the response is "oh God I wouldn't do that, what a faff!" so now I'm wondering...is it worth the effort? Or is it really too much of a faff? Does the novelty wear off? We have pasta probably twice a week on average but I don't want it to end up being a purchase that ends up sitting in the back of the cupboard unused!

I never got on with my pasta-maker where I had to turn the handle, I always felt like I needed an extra arm, and it was too much faff.

Now I have an attachment for my Kitchenaid, and quite happily knock up fresh pasta regularly.
